With over 9 years of experience in the healthcare field, Dr. King brings a dedicated and heartfelt focus to maternal and child health. Her passion is evident in the 7 years she has spent supporting mothers through lactation, ensuring they have the resources and guidance they need for a positive breastfeeding journey. Dr. King is the driving force behind two meaningful ventures aimed at uplifting maternal health. In 2023, she founded The Mommy Room Lactation Suites, a nonprofit that champions the importance of dedicated lactation spaces in workplaces and educational institutions. Through this initiative, she proudly launched Texas Southern University’s first lactation room, “The Mommy Room,” creating a welcoming space for breastfeeding mothers in the student center. Earlier, in 2018, she established Mommy’s Sweet Treats and Company, providing specially crafted lactation treats and accessories that support and celebrate maternal wellness.

Dr. King’s dedication extends beyond her entrepreneurial ventures. As the author of Thanks for Telling Me, a humorous and insightful guide for new mothers inspired by her own childbirth experience, she showcases her commitment to making maternal health both approachable and empowering. Dr. King holds a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), with her work focusing on reducing racial disparities in maternal and child health outcomes. Her background as a public health scientist underpins her expertise in maternal health education, advocacy, and personalized coaching.

In her role as a community educator, Dr. King has developed comprehensive educational materials, including digital resources that highlight the benefits of breastfeeding and outline safe breastfeeding practices. Her efforts have made a lasting impact by supporting and empowering parents in the community, fostering stronger health outcomes for families. With a deep understanding of research ethics, Dr. King is also skilled in institutional review board (IRB) processes, ensuring that public health research upholds the highest standards of integrity.
