Why This Age Matters
Identity Shifts: Early adolescence is when young people begin to explore who they are, while navigating big emotional and social shifts.
Mental Health Risk: Nearly half of all mental health challenges begin by age 14, making this stage a critical window for prevention and support.
Peer Influence: Between ages 8–14, friendships and peer groups strongly shape emotional and social well-being, sometimes even more than parents.
Emotional Growth: This is a pivotal time for learning emotional awareness and healthy ways to manage stress and regulate feelings.
How We Support
5th - 8th Grade Students
The Wisdom & Worth Youth Wellness Initiative is built on a core framework of personal development, creative arts, and wellness. These three pillars aren’t separate pieces—they work together in every part of the program.
-
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Group circles and guided workshops help youth build self-confidence, explore their strengths, and practice skills that support healthy decision-making.
-
CREATIVE ARTS
From music to painting to storytelling, expressive arts sessions give youth space to share their voices, celebrate culture, and find joy in creative expression.
-
WELLNESS
Breathing exercises, yoga, and reflection activities help youth manage stress, stay present, and develop resilience in everyday life.
Why This Program Matters
Kids are navigating a lot at home, in school, and with friends. This program gives them a safe space to grow, build confidence, and learn skills that carry over into everyday life.
Program Experience
Students can expect a welcoming flow each Saturday:
Breakfast to start the day: Grab a bite and get settled.
Group time: Circles for sharing and listening.
Hands-on projects: Activities that spark creativity and self-expression.
Wellness break: Mind-body tools like mindfulness or movement.
Encouragement throughout: Staff and interns who guide and support.
Each Saturday is familiar yet fresh. Students build confidence, express themselves in new ways, and leave with skills they can carry into home, school, and social groups.
The program is overseen by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is also an experienced musician and military veteran, bringing both professional expertise and personal understanding of why creative expression, service, and mental health support are essential for our youth.
Program Value & Investment
This program is valued at over $1,500 per student, but thanks to our generous supporters, families will only have to make a small deposit of $25 to secure their child’s spot in the program.
